Death through defiance - allegiance through pain

Rattle
Patched member - Zancudo River
b. Unknown
It's unclear whether the name Rattle came from - the sound of his bike's pipes, his guitar through an amplifier, or the effect of his right hook, but each person who knew him could attest to at least two of these, depending on circumstance.
Growing up in Sandy Shores, Rattle played guitar in a band with his friends Josh and Scott, and worked in his brother's auto shop, where over time he was able to buy and rebuild his first bike, Avarus, with his brother's help.
Rattle and his band released some music and planned on going on tour, but having failed to secure a label contract and still being an unknown band, they had to find an alternative way to fund the tour, which they did by agreeing to make package deliveries for the local Vagos drug dealer, Ramon.

They continued to tour and deliver packages for the next two years,
making a name for themselves and some good money too, until one day
Ramon set them up by sending them to Strawberry and having them jumped by Ballas. Ramon claimed the delivery was for Lazlow, the former V-Rock host on the radio, which they were excited for, hoping they could pitch him their demo. A shootout ensued, and after the smoke cleared, all three Ballas were dead, but so was Josh, and Scott died a minute later in Rattles arms, choking on his own blood.
Rattle laid low for a couple of days in an empty house in Paleto, which was under renovation. On the
third day he found and killed Ramon, and buried him under the garage floor in the Paleto house,
covering it with concrete. He was nearly caught by the returning construction workers while he was
trying to retrieve a coin he accidentally dropped and sunk into the concrete, but managed to sneak
out undetected, and rode away to Zancudo, where he spent the next three months in some shack,
grieving, stressing over the body being found, and drinking heavily.

After three months, Rattle learned from Ramon's phone that he planned to ignite a war between the
Vagos and the Ballas to benefit his side business and he intended to sacrifice the band for that
purpose. Rattle took that information to Paco - Ramon's superior, and told him what happened.
Paco was grateful for the crisis avoided, and thanked Rattle by allowing him to open a bike shop on
their territory in Vespucci beach. Rattle worked there for the next ten years, getting by and looking
over his shoulder from time to time.

One night, Rattle was at a bar and a group of bikers walked in, all bearing the patch of Sons of Leuven. He chatted up one of them, Dave, inquiring about his motorcycle which Rattle found unique. It developed into a longer conversation at the end of which Rattle expressed interest in joining the MC, being introduced to everybody and going for a group ride with the Sons.
They seemed to have identified a potential in him, and invited him for the next gathering. Later Dave took
Rattle on a job breaking into a mansion, which Rattle thought to be impossible once he saw the level of security, but with Dave's strict direction and the use of what Rattle could only describe as electronic magic, they were in and out in minutes, undetected and with a big bag of cash.

Several weeks later Rattle was made prospect for Sons of Leuven, under the sponsorship of Cyco, the president himself. He did his job loyally, though not without an occasional screw up, and slowly worked his way towards the patch, one dirty job at a time.
Once the money from the mansion job became safe to spend, Rattle used it to buy a house. He chose to buy that same house in Paleto, where it all started, with the intention of digging up the garage floor one day and knowing for sure whether Ramon's body had been found. Finding that quarter he dropped all those years ago embedded into the concrete gave him the
peace of mind he so desperately sought for.
